I love biblical fiction. Until recently I have had my few “favorite” authors that I anxiously await their next novel. I have also recently gotten a Kindle. I have discovered how much I love reading on it.Amazon and Good Reads Are fantastic about recommending books very similar to the one you have just finished reading or have read in the past. That is how I found “The Genesis Trilogy: The Heavens Before” by Kacy Barnett-Gramckow.
This is biblical fiction at its best! This is my third book on the character of Naomi. All three times Naomi’s character was about the same. She’s a mother every daughter-in-law wants. The wife every husband desires.
The three daughters-in-law in this book are very realistic. All three have different personalities yet fit good together like sisters do.
This first book in the series of The Genesis Trilogy is about Shem and His Bride. He is her “knight in shining armor”, so to speak. Theirs is a believable love, a believable life and a marriage made in Heaven, literally.
I recommend this book to people who like Biblical Fiction. The story is true to the Bible, a MUST in Biblical fiction, in my opinion. The characters are people you like and it feels like your there getting to know them as the story develops.
Also, another fact I LOVED about this book was the author used Biblical Hebrew Names. I am learning to read, write and speak Hebrew. The Hebrew use of names was refreshing and a fantastic idea, in my opinion.
A critic of this book would be there wasn’t enough “giant” activity. There was not much idol worship either. Of course that is the authors choice because the Bible does not state idol worship was around in Noah’s day, its presumed.
Other than those two things, I have nothing negative to say about the book.
I am not good at writing these comments. I hope it explains enough with out too much given away. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

The Heavens Before Genesis Trilogy Volume 1 Kacy BarnettGramckow 9780802413635 Books Reviews
I found this very interesting about the possible actions of the time and people and the way of things today. Annah grows into such a woman of God under tender loving care of Shem and all of his family. The relationships between each member as they find and grow in the knowledge of their heavenly Creator is beautiful to read about. I was not sure how the book would read but was very pleasantly surprised.
I loved this book! It accurately tells the biblical story of the flood but from a fictional accounting of the wives of Noah and his sons . If you don't like something that adds to the biblical story, even if it is respectful of the scriptural account, you won't like this book . But if you like fictional accounts of scriptural events that enhance the biblical story , this book is a terrific example of that. I will definitely be reading the other two books in this series.
I Chose five star rating because it kept my interest fresh every single night. Loved the characters and the of as it. Developed a strong lo ving family, preparing to survive the flood& then rebuilding in a new different world.
I enjoyed every minute of this amazing story. I connected with all the characters and couldn’t wait to see what happened next and how each one contrived to continue and survive life together against the evil that surrounded them.
I lost sleep wanting to continue reading and also, found myself going to my Bible to check facts and to foresee what happens next and forward into the lives of the main known people.
I can not wait to read the next book in this life affirming and truth of our Amazing Wonderful Loving God.
This was a wonderful imagining of life before the Flood! I enjoy historical fiction, and especially biblical fiction, and this time period is rarely written about. With only a small amount of biblical details available, the author has done a wonderful job of creating a world and characters that are believable and compelling. The story paints a picture of a society that has forgotten its Creator and has turned into a harsh, selfish, and evil people. You will sympathize with Annah as she struggles to survive in this terrible environment and anxiously await her rescue by Shem and the family of Noah. The description of the ark and the preparations for their days of seclusion bring the story to a more personal level that goes beyond the Bible story. If only the names were easier to figure out! Only because of my familiarity with the Bible could I recognize more obscure names from the story. Don't let that deter you though- I didn't get confused about what character was who, just wasn't sure how all the names would be pronounced.
This was a well-written novel with lovely, detailed description that immersed me in the story. I could tell a good amount of research went into crafting this work, and I appreciated the creativity and speculation on what the time before the flood was like. Though she only revealed a small glimpse of the world they lived in, I felt like that allowed things to be more open about what the rest of the world was like. Though a lot of it is just speculation, it is interesting to imagine in a work of fiction and the author did a good job at getting the main themes and points across.
The first book in Kacy's first series. I've read this books many times, finally purchased my own copies, and finally am writing a review. Kacy is my favorite author, bar none. Any violence portrayed is sensitively done, with an eye to portraying times and circumstance, and not gratuitous by any means. This first book in the trilogy is seen largely through the eyes of a young woman who will become the wife of one of Noah's sons. (Yes, that Noah). This book builds up to and includes the Great Flood, in biblical-fiction style, but one that is heavily researched and faithful to God and His Word.
The second book includes Babel, and the third tells of the results and leads the the promise of Avram (Abraham).
Kacy has written many more books since this first series. Dawnlight, and more under her pseudonym, R.J. Larson, which are a weaving of biblical narratives and fantasy, and are simply amazing!
